The new Fairchild Cinemas 12-plex will open Dec. 11 at 2871 Duportail St. in Richland.
Jeff Fairchild, owner of Fairchild Cinemas, acted as his own contractor on the 43,000-sq.-ft. theatre in the Queensgate shopping district.
The theater walls were constructed with 8-inch ICF concrete blocks, which not only will help keep energy costs down, but also help contain the noise within each theater.
The theater will have 1,100 plush, leather recliners split between its 12 theaters.
The construction value of the new 43,000-sq.-ft. theater is about $10.5 million, according to building permits from the City of Richland.
Fairchild said the theater’s entry will be similar to the Pasco Fairchild Cinemas, but there will be some stark differences, as well.
The power-reclining leather seats, for one, but there will also be expanded dining options.
And there will be a lounge at the west end of the building where movie goers ages 21 and older can buy beer, wine and mixed drinks. Those drinks can also be taken into any of the four adult-only theaters, which are also on the west side of the building.
All seating in the theater will be reserved, so when you go online to buy a ticket, you’ll also choose your seat.
