J-U-B Engineers Inc., which has an office in Kennewick, plans to build a nearly 19,000-square-foot office in Post Falls, following growth that has expanded the company’s North Idaho staff to over 60 employees, said Jay Hassell, the company’s North Idaho area manager.
The project site is a 2.3-acre lot at 1964 N. Nicholson Center, which J-U-B Engineers purchased last August, Hassell said. The project value is $7 million, according to permit information filed with the city of Post Falls.
A contract with Spokane-based Baker Construction & Development Inc. to build the new offices is pending, Hassell said.
Licia LeGrant, of Spokane-based Bernardo Wills, is designing the project, and the Spokane office of DCI Engineers Inc. will provide structural engineering services.
According to the company’s website, the anticipated completion date is June 2025, although Hassell said the project timeline is uncertain. J-U-B plans to move its Coeur d’Alene office, located in a 12,000-square-foot space at 7825 N. Meadowlark Way, to the new building when the project is complete.
J-U-B Engineers is an employee-owned civil engineering company headquartered in Meridian, Idaho. It has more than 495 employees and 22 offices in seven western states: Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Utah, Nevada, Wyoming and Colorado.
In February, J-U-B Engineers acquired Coeur d’Alene-based AEI Engineers Inc., Hassell said. The acquisition added electrical and control systems engineering services to J-U-B’s capabilities.
Tim Haener, chairman and risk manager for J-U-B Engineers, said the transaction “supports J-U-B’s strategy to enhance service delivery and growth in all our markets and locations.”
While the new Post Falls office initially will accommodate up to 83 staff members, the building is designed to be expandable to 21,450 square feet of floor space and to accommodate up to 103 employees, according to the J-U-B Engineers website.

Mad Anthony’s Inc., which does business as Anthony’s Restaurants, has acquired Churchill’s Steakhouse at 165 S. Post in downtown Spokane, the Kirkland, Washington-based company has announced.
Bill Alles, now the former owner of Churchill’s, said he decided it was time to sell the upscale steak restaurant he opened in 2007 after dealing with some health issues last year.
“It’s time for me to retire,” he said.
Churchill’s is expected to continue to operate under the same name and with the same menu, Alles said. It also will retain its roughly 40 employees under the new ownership, he said.
The only changes he expects are some minor renovations to the downtown Spokane building.
“Everything that they’ve indicated to me is they’re keeping Churchill’s as is,” Alles said.
He said it was important to him to sell to a family business.
“It was important to us that we sell to somebody that was a quality operator, who was buying Churchill’s to keep it Churchill’s, who would uphold the integrity of the product that we sell,” he said.
Alles declines to disclose the terms of the transaction.
Anthony’s was founded more than 50 years ago and now has over 30 restaurants, including Anthony’s at Columbia Point in Richland.
“Churchill’s Steakhouse exemplifies the core values we hold dear at Anthony’s,” said Amy Burns, president and CEO of Anthony’s Restaurants, in a press release. “Their commitment to family, quality, community and outstanding service aligns perfectly with our own vision. We are excited to lead Churchill’s Steakhouse into the future.”
