Columbia Basin College’s new Rand Wortman Medical Science Center will be used to train health care professionals at 940 Northgate Drive, across the street the from Richland Public Library.
The four-story, 72,600-square-foot building features 32 examination rooms, X-ray room suite, doctors’ offices, training facilities for college classrooms, simulation labs, computer labs and conference rooms for the college’s paramedic, emergency medical technician (EMT), medical assistant and fire science programs.
The total cost for the project was $17.7 million, with $3 million donated by Kadlec. It’s named after Kadlec’s retired chief exeuctive officer, Rand Wortman, who retired in May 2016.
The land was purchased from the Department of Energy for $1.
The building is scheduled to be complete by Aug. 2.
DGR Grant Construction of Richland is the general contractor.
MMEC Architecture and Interiors of Kennewick designed the facility.
