A razor thin six-vote margin will be the focus of a manual recount of a Benton Public Utility District Board of Commissioners race from the November general election.
Mike Massey has 23,797 votes, or 49.73%, to incumbent Barry Bush’s 23,791 votes, or 49.72%, for Position 3 on Benton PUD’s board. There were 262 write-in ballots.
Each commissioner on the three-member PUD board serves a six-year term and represents a different sector in the county.
Elections officials will start the recount process at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 2 and it is expected to take four days, according to a release from the Benton County Auditor’s Office.
It will take place at the elections office at 7122 W. Okanogan Place, Building F in Kennewick and observers are invited to attend.
Certification of the recount is expected to be on Dec. 10.
