A new hotel still is planned for land next to the Fairchild Cinema in south Richland.
A hotelier with multiple properties already operating in the Tri-Cities has been working on bringing a dual-brand hotel to the roughly 5-acre site at 3090 Lincoln Landing.
Kam Sahota, founder and CEO of Eternal Hotels, said design is about 95% complete and construction could start by the end of the year, depending on permits.
“The area is growing, and we’re right in the center. It’s positive for the community,” he said.
The hotel will have around 160 rooms plus a rooftop bar.
Sahota last year estimated the cost to be $20 million to $22 million, but he told the Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business in March that the price tag likely will be higher now because of rising construction costs and other factors.
Construction is expected to take 12 to 14 months.
Sahota said he’s not able to release more specifics about the hotel now, although he said the brand will be new to the Tri-Cities.
He also plans to eventually build an upper-level limited-service hotel at the site, which Sahota has said will be divided into three plots.
A limited-service hotel is one that offers solely rooms, versus a full-service hotel with restaurants and other in-house dining and event space.
Sahota also eventually plans a restaurant at the site.
He also owns additional hotels in Washington and other states, including the Pasco Red Lion, the Sleep Inn in Pasco, Best Western in Kennewick and Comfort Inn Columbia Center. A new hotel in Moses Lake also currently is in the works.
