A new park is under construction at Badger Mountain South, and a fitness court is being installed at Howard Amon Park.
The two Richland park projects are expected to be completed later this year.
The city recently began construction of the first phase of West Village Community Park in the Badger Mountain South area.
The 33-acre park will be next to the new fire station being built on Trowbridge Boulevard. The park’s first phase will cover 4.5 acres and includes parking, landscaping, grass play areas, a bathroom, and space for a playground, which will be installed in the second phase. The first phase of construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
Work to install a Fitness Court, in partnership with the National Fitness Campaign, is underway in Howard Amon Park, just south of the tennis courts, behind the Park Place Apartments and north of the Richland Community Center.
City crews and contractors are working to complete the project by mid- to late fall 2024.
The project features a seven-movement bodyweight circuit training system designed for adults of all ages and adaptable for all fitness levels. It is digitally connected by The Fitness Court app, which provides a coach-in-your-pocket style platform supporting a comprehensive wellness experience.
