The longtime Richland public works director is retiring after 30 years with the city.
Pete Rogalsky came on board in April 1994 as a civil engineer. He was promoted to city engineer in 2003 and then public works director the following year.
“His leadership has transformed the local landscape,” the city wrote in a news release announcing his retirement, pointing to construction of the Duportail Bridge, extension of Center Parkway, reconstruction of The Parkway, the Queensgate roundabouts, Badger Mountain South infrastructure, and numerous other projects.
He also secured millions in grants during his tenure, the statement said.
Last year, Rogalsky was awarded the city’s Impact Player of the Year award, which is given to an employee who brings their A-game every day, the statement said.
A farewell reception was April 4 at City Hall.
