Looking to launch your business in 2025? Washington state is the best place to do it, according to one business publication.
The state’s lack of a corporate income tax rate and strong business growth in 2024 earned Washington the top spot in rankings developed by Simplify LLC, a publication with an editorial team with backgrounds in accountancy and law that provides free guides for small business owners.
Simplify analyzed the most recent data from the U.S. Census Bureau, Bureau of Economic Analysis, Tax Foundation and the U.S. Senate across the following six categories to determine their rankings:
Consumer spending
Inflation
Business growth
Corporate taxes
Educated worker migration
“Washington – home to thriving tech tub Seattle – rose from No. 8 last year to become the best state for entrepreneurs in 2025. It had the most business growth in the US (110.8% year-over-year), relatively lower levels of inflation in the region (20% compared to January 2021) and nonexistent corporate income taxes,” the study said.
Oregon came in fifth on Simplify’s list, and Idaho at No. 18.
