If you are looking for an opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life or to give back to your community, here is your chance. The Fall 2024 Volunteer Advocate Training for the Support, Advocacy & Resource Center (SARC) will be held from September 3rd-14th, for a total of 32 hours. This training will have in-person and semi-virtual attendance options and can be completed in the comfort of your own space for a majority of the training!
SARC is a non-profit agency serving Benton and Franklin Counties. We provide crisis services and prevention education for community members on issues regarding human trafficking, sexual assault/abuse and all non-domestic violence crimes such as child abuse, elder abuse, assault, homicide, robbery, identity theft and fraud. SARC relies on community volunteers to help run its 24-hour hotline. You can do this from the comforts of your own home. The volunteer advocates only respond to calls regarding sexual assault/abuse. Volunteers interested in working with human trafficking clients also have the opportunity to take additional training. To be an on-call crisis advocate, all you need is a cell or home phone number and the answering service connects you to the caller. Or, if you are able and willing to meet with clients face-to-face, you can sign up to be an on-call hospital advocate. This 32-hour training is designed to give volunteers the tools they need to work with victims and their families.
