Event Description

If you are looking for an opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life or to give back to your community, here is your chance. The Fall 2024 Volunteer Advocate Training for the Support, Advocacy & Resource Center (SARC) will be held from September 3rd-14th, for a total of 32 hours. This training will have in-person and semi-virtual attendance options and can be completed in the comfort of your own space for a majority of the training! SARC is a non-profit agency serving Benton and Franklin Counties. We provide crisis services and prevention education for community members on issues regarding human trafficking, sexual assault/abuse and all non-domestic violence crimes such as child abuse, elder abuse, assault, homicide, robbery, identity theft and fraud. SARC relies on community volunteers to help run its 24-hour hotline. You can do this from the comforts of your own home. The volunteer advocates only respond to calls regarding sexual assault/abuse. Volunteers interested in working with human trafficking clients also have the opportunity to take additional training. To be an on-call crisis advocate, all you need is a cell or home phone number and the answering service connects you to the caller. Or, if you are able and willing to meet with clients face-to-face, you can sign up to be an on-call hospital advocate. This 32-hour training is designed to give volunteers the tools they need to work with victims and their families. For more information on the many ways you can volunteer, please call Rosanna Herrera at (509) 374-5391 or email [email protected] to find out how you can make a difference.
