The Kennewick School District is wrapping up construction on its newest elementary school, Ridge View, at 7001 W. 13th Ave., this month.
The new and expanded 30-classroom school replaces the previous 20-classroom building on the same site. The 61,284-square-foot school includes a cafeteria/kitchen, gymnasium, library, offices and play spaces.
The school is for kindergarten through fifth-grade students.
During construction, Ridge View students and staff were housed in the Fruitland building. They will start school in their new building on Jan. 3.
The $31 million construction project is funded by a 2019 bond and the state School Construction Assistance Program. The land was previously owned by the district.
Chervenell Construction Co. of Kennewick is the general contractor.
Design West of Kennewick (Brandon Wilm, AIA, LEED AP) is the designer.
Alliance Management & Construction Solutions of Benton City (Earl Eastman, LEED GA) was a key subcontractor.
